Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouq Yahaya at the seminar in Kaduna

Nigerian Army says it is desirous of meeting the expectation of Nigerians.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouq Yahaya stated this while declaring open, the second senior command and leadership seminar for incumbent and potential GOCs, as well as brigade commanders of formations located in the Northern part of the country.

Lieutenant General Farouq Yahaya explained that upon assumption of office, he identified the compelling need to urgently reposition Army operations efficiently in order to defeat the myriads behind the rising threats to internal security of the country.

The Army Chief maintained that under his watch, the Army intends to do things differently towards a better outcome, hence it is re-invigorating training, drawing lessons from ongoing operations and listening to various stakeholders.

Lieutenant General General Farouq Yahaya noted that training events like seminar provides an avenue for the senior commanders to frankly and sincerely share experiences and identify gaps in their operations.

Earlier in his remarks, General Officer Commanding One Division Kaduna, Major General Kabiru Ibrahim Mukhtar explained that huge investment had been committed into organising the seminar considering contemporary threats and operating environment, which demand astute and innovative leadership competences from commanders.

He maintained that the division had embarked on robust operations in collaboration with sister security agencies, which resulted to improved security situation in the division’s area of responsibility.

Major General Kabiru Ibrahim Mukhtar implored participants to seize the opportunity to share ideas, experiences and participate actively through meaningful contributions.

Participants were drawn from all the Nigerian Army formation.
