The management of the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Kano, wishes to alert and warn members of the public to beware of fraudsters who entice unsuspecting members of the public with fraudulent offers of employment or contracts purportedly in the name of the Hospital.

This was contained in a media statement signed by the Deputy Director Public Relations AKTH, Hauwa Abdullahi and was made available to Radio Nigeria in Kano.

It stated that the warning became necessary as the management of the Hospital received the shocking information that two unsuspecting members of the public have been duped of huge sums of money by fraudsters who falsely claimed to have the influence to secure employment and contracts from the Hospital for them.

It explained that for the avoidance of doubt, the management of the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital has nothing to do with the unidentified fraudsters and emphasised that the hospital has proceedures and standard channels of communication as provided for in the rules and regulations governing the conduct of its activities and other Federal Government institutions.

The fraudsters reportedly engaged their victims in telephone conversations while pretending to be senior management personnel of the Hospital and demanded for bribes from their victims in exchange for non-existent jobs or contracts from the hospital.

The Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital management hereby advise anyone duped by any fraudsters to report the matter to the relevant security agencies that possess the technical capacity to forensically investigate and trace the bank accounts used by the criminals and ultimately apprehend them for prosecution.

It could be recalled that earlier this year, the attention of the Information and Public Relations Unit as well as the Information Technology Unit of the Hospital was drawn to a fictitious facebook account bearing the name of the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe.

Commenting on the issue, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital said that his attention was drawn to the fake and fraudulent facebook account and called on members of the public to disregard it.

He strongly warned staff of the hospital and the public to desist from accepting friendship requests from it or interacting with the keepers and manipulators of the fake facebook account in whatever way because it does not belong to him.
