Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has appealed to rice processing companies to reduce their prices for local consumers within the state to cushion the economic effect of the Covid 19 pandemic.

He made the appeal when he visited some of the largest rice processing mills in the state.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar further explained that with the state being among the largest producers of rice across the country, prices should be cheaper for people than other states in Nigeria.

He said every citizen has a role to play in order to ease the hardship on the masses, urging the rice processing companies to reduce their cost price.

Badaru Abubakar also appealed to the marketers not to sabotage the reduction of the price or divert the parboiled rice to other states.
