President Mohammad Buhari has forwarded the Harmonised Retirement Age for Teachers bill 2021 to the Senate for consideration.

In a letter read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan,the bill seeks to increase the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65 years,and increase the possible years of service from 35 to 40 years.

President Buhari explained that the transmission to the National Assembly was in line with section 58  subsection 2 of the 1999 constitution as Amended.
