The United Nations Children’s Fund-UNICEF has condemned any attack on  schools and calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all missing children and their safe return to their families.

A statement by the UNICEF Nigeria Representative, Peter Hawkins says the body is deeply concerned about these reported acts of violence.

Reacting to the attack in Government Science College Kagara Niger State, Mr Hawkins said  Attacks on schools are a violation of children’s rights.

He stressed that Children should feel safe at home and at school at all times  and parents should not need to worry for the safety of their children when they send them off to school.

The UNICEF Representative however  acknowledged the efforts being taken by the Government for the safe return of any missing children.
