Kaduna State Government has signed the state penal code amendment law twenty twenty, which provides stiff penalty for rapists.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication, Mr. Muyiwa Adekeye made this known in a statement.
According to the statement, the law provides surgical castration and removal of fallopian tubes for male and female convicts respectively upon conviction for raping a person above fourteen years.
It also provides surgical castration and death for person who rapes a child below fourteen years.
The statement noted that the court shall in addition to the conviction, order the convict be listed in the sex offenders register to be published by the Attorney General.
While commending members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly for passing the amendments, Governor Nasir El Rufai stated that the drastic penalties would help protect children from crime.
