HYPPADEC Earmarks N1.7bn For Yauri Water Project

Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), is to spend N1.7 billion for the rehabilitation of the Yauri water treatment plant in Kebbi state.

The Managing Director of the Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yalwa, made this known while speaking with Newsmen in Yauri; shortly after a stakeholder meeting on the water project of the area and inspection of completed projects carried out across the state by the commission.

Alhaji Yalwa explained that Yauri town ha been facing a perennial water shortage for the past 20 years which makes it difficult for the people to have access to potable water.

According to him, the commission will provide overhead tanks of one million liters each in addition to the existing ones, and a tender will be available to invite any firm that is interested and capable of carrying out the project.

He noted that the project would include rehabilitation of the treatment plant as well as expansion, and solicited the support of the communities to safeguard and maintain the project on completion.

On the completed projects inspected by the commission in the Kebbi State, the Managing Director expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done by the contractors.

The projects inspected include health, power and street lights, schools as well as roads.
