NCS Intercepts Over N200m Smuggled Goods In Niger, Kogi

Niger and Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has seized various items smuggled into the country with a duty paid value of over two hundred and thirty eight million naira.

Controller of the Command , Mr Busayo Kadejo announced this while displaying the seized items before Newsmen in Minna that coincided with his sixty days in office, saying that there is no hiding place for smugglers.

Mr Busayo Kadejo explained that some of the items seized include fifty seven units of different exotic vehicles, twenty one bales of second hand clothes , ninety bags of fertiliser and thirty six bags of fifty kilograms of foreign parboiled rice.

According to him the command has recovered a total revenue of over fifty million naira during the period, which he said were principally from demand notices.

He however said seven suspects were arrested during the operation and that they were  detained and released based on administrative bail.

To achieve this feat , the Comptroller Niger Kogi Area Command of Nigeria explained that they have deployed massive intelligence and applied rules of engagement , thereby resulting to zero casualty.

He reaffirmed that the Federal governments directive on border closure is still in force at Babanna and commended the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali for  his redeployment as well as providing an enabling environment to flourished.

On the relationship existing between service and other security organisations in Niger state , Mr. Busayo Kadejo described it state he described it as cordial encouraging.
