Kaduna IDPs Receive Food Items Worth N20million


Internally Displaced Persons IDPs in Kaduna State have taken delivery of food items worth about Twenty Million Naira as part of the donation from Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to the IDPs.


Presenting the items to leaders of affected communities, President of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union Mr. Jonathan Asake stressed the need for the establishment of Southern Kaduna Humanitarian Commission to address the huge humanitarian crisis in the area.

According to Mr. Asake, no fewer than one hundred and forty eight communities have been displaced by activities of bandits in the Southern part of the state.

The SOKAPU President also explained that a the Union had developed a template that captured all stakeholders at affected communities such as Community Development Associations, Religious organizations, and Non governmental organizations
that will assist in ensuring that all donations and assistance get to the affected persons.

Mr. Jonathan Asake therefore gave thanks to Governor Wike who kept to the promise he made while on a campaign tour to providing assistance towards alleviating the plight of the people at the IDPs camps.


Responding on behalf of the benefitting communities, National President of Atyap Community Development Association, Dr. Samuel Timbwak Achie who appreciated the gesture also called for unity and Peaceful coexistence for sustainable development in Kaduna State.


The event was attended by Community Associations, and Traditional Councils of affected areas while items donated to the IDPs include, one hundred and eighty bags of rice, one hundred bags of maize, eighty bags of gari, one hundred cartons of cooking oil, pasta, noodles among other items.
