The Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai Major General Christopher Musa has called on Nigerian Army War College to develop new strategy that will counter emerging security challenges in the country.
Major General Musa made the call while addressing participants of Course 5 Army War College of Nigeria led by the Commandant Major General Solomon Udounwa who are on an operational visit to headquarters Theatre command Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.
The Nigerian Army War College was established in 2017 to develop the capacity of Army officers, allied and other security agencies in the conduct of strategic operations.
Theater Commander Operation Hadin Kai Major General Christopher Musa said establishing robust synergy between the Theatre and the War College would add value to the counter insurgency operations in the north east.
General Musa charged the participants to design a better operational plan that would dispassionately address contemporary security challenges.
He noted that as future commanders they were expected to critically examine the situation and develop modules that will stand the test of time.
“Some areas the War College woul have to look into is on ways and means that we can enhance the capacity and capabilities of our junior leaders and we also need to look at how we are going to also enhance the capacity of our soldiers. Because first and foremost, the gap between the officers and soldiers is wide and within the soldiers themselves, General Musa observed “.
The Theatre Commander also requested the College to study the aspect of mass surrendering of Boko Haram insurgents and different models of reintegration.
He expressed willingness and dedication of officers and soldiers of Operation Hadin to end the menace of insurgency and terrorism in the region.
Commandant Army War College of Nigeria Major General Solomon Udounwa said the visit is part of the course which deals with operational art and campaigning module and also see how the College can contribute its quota to the successes in the fight against insurgency.
He explained that the College is gaining International acceptance as four allied officers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Niger and Togo are currently participating in the Course.
Major General Udounwa louded the renewed commitment of the Theatre Commander and his officers in maintaining peace in the north east.
The Commandant was accompanied on the operational visit by eight members of faculty, thirty participants including 2 allied officers and two participants from sister security agencies.
