Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, Presided over by Justice Adenike Akinpelu has sentenced a 20 year old Adetunji John Adebayo from Igbeti, Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oyo State, to six months imprisonment over attempted cheating by impersonation.

The offence is contrary to Section 95 punishable under Section 324 of the Penal Code Law.

Adetunji, pleaded guilty to the one count charge preferred against him by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Following his plea, counsel to the EFCC, R. Alao, urged the court to hold that “the prosecution has established a prima-facie case against the defendant considering his plea, extra-judicial statements and exhibits tendered”.

In her Judgement ,Justice Adenike Akinpelu, said that the court had carefully considered the case particularly the plea of guilt entered by the defendant and all the exhibits tendered.

The Court held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Adetunji was thereafter, sentenced to a term of six months imprisonment with option of fine of N300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira Only)
