Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has expressed profound appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for promptly responding to the security needs of the state by deploying additional troops to Yauri.

The governor made the remarks during an inspection visit to the soldiers’ camp in Yauri.

Governor Nasir Idris described the reinforcement as timely and strategic in strengthening ongoing efforts to eliminate banditry and restore lasting peace across Yauri, Shanga, Ngaski and neighbouring communities.

He explained that, the Yauri axis, comprising Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski Local Government Areas, remains one of the major security flashpoints in the state due to its proximity to Niger and Zamfara States.

Idris added that, the nearby Fakai Local Government Area also shares a boundary with Sokoto State, while Kebbi State has an international border with the Republic of Benin, making the area particularly vulnerable to criminal activities.

The Governor urged the troops to intensify efforts in the fight against bandits and other criminal elements, expressing confidence in the professionalism, courage and operational capacity of the Nigerian Army.

He emphasized that the military has consistently distinguished itself both within and outside the country and possesses the capability to overcome the security challenges confronting the nation.

Governor Idris further charged the troops to pursue the criminals relentlessly and ensure that peace is fully restored to the affected communities, enabling displaced farmers to return safely to their farmlands and residents to go about their lawful activities without fear.
