The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), says Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew, the person at the centre of the fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), was never appointed by the Federal Government or any authority of government.

The ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu stated this after briefing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on the Commission’s interim investigation.

He said the findings established that the purported council was never created by any law, executive order or other valid government instrument, while the appointment letter presented by the suspect was forged.

The ICPC Chairman said investigations also revealed that the suspect forged legislative documents, impersonated government officials and created additional fictitious government agencies to facilitate illegal activities.

He, however, clarified that no Federal Government funds were approved or disbursed to the fake agency and that the forged appointment letter did not originate from the Presidency.

Musa Aliyu said the Commission has recommended the prosecution of Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew, sanctions against public officers whose negligence aided the operation of the fake agency, and reforms to strengthen internal controls across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
