The Zamfara State Government has assured residents that, every necessary measure is being taken to address insecurity and restore lasting peace.

Governor Dauda Lawal gave the assurance during a sympathy visit to Bungudu Emirate following the recent bandit attack that claimed lives and led to the abduction of the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area and other victims.

The Governor explained that, he travelled directly from the airport to Bungudu immediately after returning to Nigeria in order to commiserate with the Emir and the people over the unfortunate incident.

He said the government was leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to tackle insecurity across the state.

According to him, “We are doing everything that needs to be done to improve security in Zamfara State. What we are witnessing is a difficult trial, but I believe it is a test from Almighty Allah, and by His grace, we shall overcome it.”

Governor Lawal expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, prayed to Allah to grants them eternal mercy.

He also prayed for the safe return of those still in the custody of the bandits, asking Allah to secure their release and bring an end to the security crisis facing the State.

The Governor appealed to residents to remain patient and continue praying for peace, stressing that, the government was working tirelessly to address the situation.

“Please continue to exercise patience. We are not folding our arms. By the grace of Allah, this challenge will be overcome,” he said.

Special prayers were later offered for lasting peace in Zamfara State and for the safe rescue of all those abducted by the bandits.

Earlier, the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru thanked Governor Lawal for coming directly from the airport to Bungudu to sympathise with the people.

The Emir commended the Governor’s commitment to tackling insecurity, saying he was fully aware of the efforts being made by the state government to restore peace.
