Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has continued the payment of compensation to residents affected by ongoing infrastructure projects across the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to people-centred development.

Speaking at the distribution of compensation cheques to affected residents at Basawa in Sabon Gari Local Government Area, the Governor said the beneficiaries were affected by the construction of the Hunkuyi–Unguwan Rimi–Basawa Road linking Kudan and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas.

Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Mayere, the Governor explained that the road project is expected to improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, boost commerce, enhance access to social services and stimulate economic activities within the corridor.

He stressed that while government remains committed to expanding infrastructure, no citizen should bear an unfair burden in the process, adding that all affected properties were transparently assessed to ensure eligible owners receive fair and adequate compensation.

Governor Uba Sani described the payment as the fulfilment of government’s legal and moral responsibility rather than an act of charity, assuring that compensation would continue to precede major infrastructure projects across the state.

He noted that within the last two weeks, the state government had also paid over two billion naira in compensation to one thousand residents affected by the Rigasa–Tudun Wada flood and gully erosion control project, as well as households impacted by the construction of the fifteen-kilometre Ring Road from Danbushiya Junction to Danhono Two in Millennium City.

Also speaking Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency-KADRA, Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmad, said the exercise reflects the Governor’s commitment to fairness, transparency and respect for the rights of citizens.

He added that the compensation process followed due process and established best practices to ensure that all project-affected persons receive their entitlements before construction activities commence.
