The death has occurred of the Zonal Officer of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board for Babura, Maigatari and Sule Tankarkar Local Government Areas, Alhaji Nasiru Alhassan Muhammad.
The Director-General of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, disclosed this to Radio Nigeria’s correspondent in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
According to him, the late Alhaji Nasiru Alhassan Muhammad was among the first batch of Jigawa pilgrims who departed Makkah on Saturday, June 6, 2026, through Jeddah International Airport for Nigeria after participating in this year’s Hajj exercise.
Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, who expressed shock over the sudden death of the zonal officer, said the deceased was rushed to a private hospital in Dutse by an ambulance that was on standby upon the pilgrims’ arrival at the airport.
He described the death as a great loss to the entire staff of the Pilgrims Welfare Board and extended his heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and relatives, as well as the District Head of Maigatari, Sarkin Tsakar Gidan Gumel, the Amirul Hajj and Emir of Dutse, and members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly Committee on Religious Affairs.
The deceased is survived by a wife, four children and other relatives, including the Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gidan Gumel and former Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Sani Alhassan Muhammad.
Radio Nigeria reports that the entire staff of the board were thrown into mourning following the death of Nasiru Alhassan Muhammad.
Until his death, he served as the Officer in Charge of the Maigatari Zone of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
He was buried on Sunday morning in Gumel, Jigawa State.
