The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped victims who spent over 40 days in captivity and arrested five suspected informants linked to the kidnapping syndicate.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the successful operation was carried out by police personnel from Fushin Kada in collaboration with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Hunkuyi and other security operatives.
The rescue followed sustained intelligence gathering, strategic surveillance, and coordinated security operations that led the joint team to a suspected bandits’ hideout.
The statement says, on sighting the approaching security personnel, the criminals fled the area, abandoning the victims who were subsequently rescued unharmed.
The rescued victims according to it, were identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu of Kudan Local Government Area, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa of Tufa Village in Niger State.
Following their rescue, the victims were taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment before being reunited with their families.
The police also arrested five suspected informants during the course of the investigation.
Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects allegedly provided information and logistical support to the kidnappers.
The suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement during interrogation.
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad praised the professionalism, dedication, and collaboration among security agencies that led to the successful rescue of the victims.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across Kaduna State and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
“The cooperation of the public remains vital in the fight against criminality,” the police commissioner stated.
The Command said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
