Effective synergy and partnership between civil society organizations and journalists have been identified as vital in changing perceptions on climate change.

 

These was the submission at a parley in Kaduna between two non governmental organizations, Earthwell Climate Change and Environmental Initiative and Transparency and Accountability In Totality Initiative.

 

Founder of ECCEI, Mrs. Rasheedat Abiola Niyi said climate change and other environmental concerns can only be tackled through mutual collaboration and enhanced synergy of all stakeholders.

 

She noted that the ECCEI comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds including media, law, science and other specialized fields.

 

Mrs. Niyi canvassed for increased space for journalists in environmental and developmental issues given their proximity to the grassroots.

 

In his response, the Lead Director of Transparency and Accountability In Totality Initiative, Khalifa Halilu Ahmad explained that the group primary target audience are the younger generation.

 

He said the TinT Initiave serves as a hub for training and empowering young people on environmental and governance issues.

 

Khalifa noted that activities aimed at tackling climate change can be achieved through partnership.

 

Other submissions made at the parley sought for enhanced visibility on environmental and developmental issues as well as streamlining of care work and climate projects.
