Kebbi State Government has formally commissioned fifty newly acquired 18-seater buses for mass transit within and beyond the state.

The buses were commissioned at the newly constructed Ultra-Modern Park in Birnin Kebbi by the State Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Hayatuddeen Bawa.

Bawa said the buses are intended to ease transportation challenges faced by residents, particularly during long-distance travel, noting that Kebbi had been the only state in the North-West without mass transit buses.

He commended the efforts of Governor Nasir Idris for procuring the vehicles and urged beneficiaries to use them responsibly to ensure sustainability and possible expansion of the initiative.

The commissioner also advised drivers to operate with care and professionalism, warning against overloading, dangerous driving, and excessive speed, while emphasizing the importance of proper maintenance and servicing of the vehicles.

Earlier, in his contribution, the Chairman National Association of Transport Owners NATO, kebbi State branch, Alhaji Ali Aliyu appreciate the effort of the state government under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris for providing 50 newly 18 seater buses for transportation within and out the state.

In his remark, the Deputy Corp Commandant Operations of the federal road safety, kebbi state command, DCC Musa Danladi said the drivers were carefully selected and tested before given them the keys of the vehicles, adding that they were warned to abide by the traffic rules and regulations.
