Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state has expressed appreciation over the immense contributions of practicing Journalists in the state for their support towards the development of Niger state and democracy at large.
The Governor who was speaking at a dinner organized by the Niger state Government for practicing Journalists in Niger state, held in Minna, also introduce the brand new Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Mr Obed Nana to members of fourth estate of the realms.
Mohammed Umar Bago said despite the fact that they are grieving over the abduction of Papiri school children, there is the need for them to showcase and thanked Journalists in Niger for their maturity and exhibiting high level of professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities and called for more to succeed, thereafter unveiled the diaries of activities of New Niger.
Secretary to the Niger state Government, Abubakar Usman, explained that the purpose of of organizing the dinner is to create a more cordial working relationship in the spirit of carrying every member along and would wants them to also support the New Niger Agenda of Governor Bago to thrive.
In his remarks, Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Mr Obed Nana solicited for the support of Journalists in the discharge of his assignment while assuring them that his doors will remain opened for positive and constructive criticism to succeed.
Chairman Niger state Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Comrade Abu Nmodu who appreciated Niger state government for the gesture said Governor Umar Bago has approved a Media Summit which will be organized during the forthcoming press week to enable them tell their stories by themselves and not somebody telling their stories to the world, after which prayers for peace in Niger state, Nigeria and the immediate release of Papiri school children were offered.
