The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has applauded the Zuma Agric Radio Suleja for its strong commitment at improving the lives of rural communities through agricultural programmes.

The Minister stated this at the 20th anniversary celebration of Zuma Agric Radio and the 9th edition of the Zuma Agricultural Harvest Festival, held in Suleja Local Government Council of Niger State.

Represented by his Media Aide, Rabiu Ibrahim, the Minister described the station as the pioneer in community broadcasting in Niger State, however said Zuma FM, which started as the first private radio station in the state, has played a major role in bringing information closer to the people, especially farmers in rural areas.

Mohammed Idris explained that for over 20 years, the station has strengthened the link between government and citizens, improved agricultural awareness, and given rural communities a platform to learn, speak out, and grow, noting that this year’s theme, “Two Decades of Impact: Transforming Rural Lives through Agricultural Innovation,” reflects the importance of agriculture and information in national development.

In his remarks the Director General Voice of Nigeria (VON), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, represented by the North Central Zonal Coordinator, Malam Saleh Umar Saleh said agriculture remains one of the major drivers of Nigeria’s economy and a key sector for national development.

Earlier, the Manager of Zuma Agric Radio Shu’aibu Kere said the station has made a direct impact on farmers over the last nine years by supporting them with health insurance, access to loans through the NIRSAL Microfinance Fund, and regular training programmes.
