The thirty-eight worshippers abducted two weeks ago in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have been safely reunited with their families.
According to a statement by Dada Sunday, Chief Press Secretary to the Ekiti Local Government Chairman, the rescued worshipers spent over a week in Ilorin receiving medical attention before returning home.
Their arrival in Eruku was met with loud cheers, tears of joy, and songs of gratitude from relatives and community members.
The statement commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the National Security Adviser, and all security agencies for their swift response, which facilitated the safe rescue of the abductees.
It further assured residents of the local government’s continued commitment to strengthening security across all ten wards of the council.
In a separate development, armed bandits who abducted 10 people in Isapa, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on November 25, 2025, have issued a one-week ultimatum to the community, demanding N300 million for the release of the victims.
The kidnappers warned that failure to meet the ransom deadline would result in dire consequences, including further attacks on the community and harm to those already in their custody.
Confirming the development to journalists, the headhunter of Isapa, Mr. Adeyeye, said the kidnappers initially demanded N500 million but later reduced the amount to N300 million during negotiations.
