Professor Abdullahi Usman, the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has signed the 2026 Hajj Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Nigeria, marking the country’s official participation in next year’s pilgrimage.

The signing ceremony took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the NAHCON chairman accompanied by commissioners of the commission and the leadership of the State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards.

Meanwhile, as part of early preparations for the 2026 Hajj, NAHCON has completed the assessment of accommodation and catering facilities in Madinah.

The three-day inspection held from November 3 to 5 was led by the Commissioner in charge of Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services, Professor Abubakar Yagawal.

The delegation included representatives from the Office of the Vice-President, NAHCON Board members, the State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards Forum, and senior management staff of the Commission.

The exercise focused on evaluating the readiness of service providers through on-the-spot inspections of hotels and catering centers to ensure compliance with Saudi Arabia’s regulations, as well as NAHCON’s accommodation and feeding standards for Nigerian pilgrims.
