The Emir of Birnin Gwari, Malam Zubair Jibril has expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and security agencies for restoring peace and stability in Birnin Gwari Emirate after nearly two decades of insecurity.

In a special message titled “Renewed Hope, Renewed Peace: Lessons from Birnin Gwari for a Stronger Nigeria,” the Emir described the transformation of Birnin Gwari from a symbol of despair to a beacon of hope as a testament to resilience, unity, and visionary leadership.

Malam Zubair recalled that for many years, banditry and neglect plunged the emirate into fear and poverty, forcing residents to abandon their homes and farmlands.

He said that through faith, patience, and leadership commitment, the people of Birnin Gwari overcame despair and are now rebuilding their lives in peace and confidence.

He noted that the turning point came when President Tinubu, in December 2022, visited the area by road to listen to the people’s plight — a gesture the Emir described as “an act of courage and empathy.” Following that visit, the President was conferred with the traditional title Dakaren Birnin Gwari, meaning “The Indomitable Champion.”

According to the Emir, the peace accord facilitated by the Federal and Kaduna State Governments has drastically reduced incidents of banditry and kidnapping by over 90 percent, leading to the reopening of roads, revival of farming, and return of normalcy across the emirate.

He also commended President Tinubu for approving the rehabilitation of the 126-kilometre Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road, describing it as “an act that restored the people’s dignity and reconnected them to the rest of the nation after decades of isolation.”

Malam Zubair lauded Governor Uba Sani for sustaining peace and promoting development through planned projects such as a modern cattle market, abattoir, and rehabilitation of the 26-kilometre Bagoma–Gagumi Road, which he described as the agricultural lifeline of the area.

The Emir, however, called for more collaboration between the Federal and State Governments, development partners, and the private sector to consolidate the gains of peace.

He outlined key priorities for Birnin Gwari, including the full rehabilitation of the Funtua–Birnin Gwari and Birnin Gwari–Minna Federal Roads, establishment of a tertiary institution, mechanisation of agriculture, restoration of banking and telecommunications services, and upgrade of the Jibril Mai Gwari I Memorial Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre.

He further assured investors of safety and stability in Birnin Gwari, emphasizing that the land is peaceful, the people are welcoming, and opportunities abound in agriculture, mining, and renewable energy.

The Emir also paid glowing tribute to the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police, DSS, Civil Defence, and local vigilantes for their sacrifices in restoring peace, praying for divine mercy on those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He commended the people of Birnin Gwari for their patience, piety, and unity, urging them to sustain the spirit of justice and mutual respect among all ethnic and religious groups.

Concluding his message, the Emir prayed for continued peace and progress in Nigeria, calling on leaders at all levels to make hope and justice the cornerstones of national renewal.
