Kano State Police Command Arrests Notorious Robbery Suspect Barga, 14 Others,in “Operation Kukan Kura”

The Kano State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against thuggery-related crimes, arresting 15 suspects, including a notorious armed robbery suspect, Mu’azu Barga, in a crackdown operation dubbed “Operation Kukan Kura”.

The Command Public relations officer SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa disclosed this to newsmen in Kano.
He said the operation, carried out by Tactical teams in Sheka, Ja’oji, and Kurna Quarters on July 26, 2025, aims to detect and prevent criminal activities, aligning with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

Kiyawa noted that the suspects, aged between 14 and 28 years, were arrested in possession of four stolen mobile phones belonging to different victims.
“The Suspects confessed to engaging in criminal activities, including mobile phone robbery and theft.”

“Mu’azu Barga, a suspected notorious serial armed robber, was among those arrested. Barga is linked to different cases of armed robbery and is responsible for leading a series of violent attacks and rivalry Daba fights within Kano Metropolis.”
The Public relations officer explained that the Kano State Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has declared total war against all forms of thuggery-related crimes, reiterating the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and security in the state.
He said the Command appreciates the public’s support and encourages residents to keep reporting any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station
