The Rotary Club of Kaduna Metropolitian and Rotary Action Group for Peace Kaduna State Chapter have applauded the advocacy role of the media in the society, with particular reference to the main stream media and urged them to keep the momentum.
President of the Club who doubles as the President Rotary Action Group for Peace, Rotarian Lukqman Babatunde made this known when he led other Executive Members of the Club along side some EXCO members of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ Kaduna on a Courtesy and familiarization visit to the Managing Director Kaduna State Media Corporation, KSMC, Ahmed Maiyaki in Kaduna.

According to him, the main stream Media has been in the fore front of promoting Peace and National Unity, as well as giving visibility and voice to the voiceless, hence the need for Rotary to identify with it through its media houses tour.
The President who maintained that the humanitarian services role of Rotary globally cannot be made possible without the support of stakeholders, noted that it is in line with that vision that the group taught it wise for the visit.
“This is to formally notify you Sir and your staff to support our initiative and other programs in Rotary that will come subsequently with media visibility and wide reach”, he said.
Rotarian Lukeman explained that the club intends to carry out a program to mark the child and maternal health month of rotary, where birth kits will be distributed to expected mothers in a primary health centre in Mando, as well as distribution of some desk to some schools in Kaduna to mark the rotary month of peace and they have also revival it’s monthly fitness exercise for it’s members and stakeholders of the club among others.
On his part, Rotary District Representative, Gbenga Oshosanya who used the opportunity to state the thematic areas of the club, appealed that all the clubs in Kaduna under the umbrella body of Rotary club of Kaduna should be given visibility in line with the visit.
Commenting, the Managing Director of KSMC, Ahmed Maiyaki applauded the efforts of Rotary Club globally in supporting government in meeting the needs of the people, with particular emphasis to their efforts in the fight against Poliomyelitis in Nigeria.

“You mentioned the issue of peace, this is one also very thematic area that is dear to us, as a corporation we are genuinely commitment to engendering peace to our people,” he said.
While urging members of the club to engage more on enlightening the public about their activities and how things are been done in the club, Mr. Maiyaki assures the team that KSMC will give them maximum support for the smooth runnings of the club and service to humanity.
The President was accompanied by Assistant Governor of the Club, Rotarian Tina Ishaku and the Chairperson Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ Kaduna State Chapter Comrade Sahura Jibrin Maidoki, among others.
