In a heartfelt tribute, Senator Basheer Garba Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, has described the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari as both a profound national loss and a deeply personal one.

In a statement in Abuja, Senator Lado said the late President embodied the values of patriotism, integrity, humility, and service to Nigeria.

He recalled that beyond his leadership, Buhari was a father figure and mentor who believed in him and helped shape his career in public service.

Senator Lado said President Buhari personally congratulated him when he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), and later entrusted him with key national assignments, including as Federal Commissioner for Refugees and Director-General of NAPTIP. These, he noted, were signs of Buhari’s deep trust and confidence in his leadership.

He also recounted a memorable moment when President Buhari blessed his housing initiative for displaced persons, which has since become a symbol of hope for thousands across the country.

Lado further praised Buhari’s personal virtues, recalling the former President’s condolence call during the death of his mother and his commitment to attend a Qur’anic competition in honour of Hajiya Abibatu Mogaji, even while dealing with health challenges abroad.

Senator Lado described the late President as a man of faith, loyalty, and humility, whose entire life, from military to civilian rule was devoted to the progress of Nigeria.

He concluded by offering his condolences to the Buhari family and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the late leader eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
