The Acting National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party SDP Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Umar Gombe, has announced the formation of an investigative committee to probe allegations leveled against the party’s suspended national chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, and two other individuals.
Dr. Sadiq expressed hope that members of the committee will demonstrate fairness and integrity in their work and submit a credible report that upholds justice for all parties involved.
He said the move is part of ongoing efforts to sanitize and reposition the SDP ahead of the 2027 general elections, showcasing the party’s continued reputation as a unique and transparent political platform in the country.
The Acting Chairman urged the committee members to uphold truth and justice in the discharge of their duties.
Furthermore, Dr. Sadiq called on all members of the SDP across the world to embrace truth and avoid selfish interests, which, according to him, do not benefit the party.
He cited the case of the suspended chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, who allegedly attempted to unilaterally enter into a merger arrangement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) without consulting key stakeholders.
Dr. Sadiq described the move as selfish and a violation of the party’s structure, which has been in place for over 20 years, stressing that such actions will not be tolerated from any party member.
Dr. Sadiq also reiterated that history will never forget the contributions of the SDP, especially during the era when late MKO Abiola and Bashir Tofa contested for the presidency under the party’s platform.
He described the SDP as an old and credible party founded on noble intentions for national development and the welfare of the people, affirming their unwavering commitment to protect the party’s integrity.
