Federal Government pensioners have blamed Ministry of Finance and Accountant General of the Federation for the delay in payment of accumulated benefits despite presidential approval.

Coordinator of the Retiree and Chairman of the NIPOST Pensioners’ Union, Comrade Munkaila Ogunbote in a statement said that the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate PTAD explained at a meeting in Lagos that funds are not being released for the exercise.

Comrade Munkaila Ogunbote warned that the senior citizens would resume their protests soon unless their benefits are fully paid which have accumulated over the years for selfish reasons.

He reminded relevant authorities of several promises made on the issue without fulfilment which angered the pensioners nationwide and called for immediate settlement to avert the protest.

The coordinator was however delighted over the assurance that the retired workers would be restored to the National Health Insurance Scheme halted many years ago without explanations which aggravated their sufferings under the current economic hardship.
