As part of efforts to bring succour and reduce the hardship on his constituents, the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Mr. Sunday Marshall Katung, has donated food items to widows ,orphans and less privileged within his constituency.

Speaking during the distribution, representative of Senator Katung and Minority Leader at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Mr. Ali Kalat, said the gesture was a yearly routine gesture by the Senator to reach out to the downtrodden in celebration of his birthday.

In a speech delivered by  Ali Kalat, said the celebrant expressed gratitude to the hosts for their prayers and wishes.

Presenting the items separately at the Rafiki Orphanage Home, Ungwan Rimi Bajju, ECWA Widows Training School, Samaru Kataf and Gweimen Multi Purpose Center Kwoi , he urged other well-meaning individuals to imbibe the spirit of giving to those in need.

According to the Chairman of the distribution committee and former Minority Whip at the House of Representatives, Mr. Gideon Luka Gwani said the food items donated were bags of rice, cartons of noodles, bags of semolina and spaghetti, as well as cash donations.

On his part, the member representing Jama’a/Sanga Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Mr. Daniel Amos, wished the Senator well andalso made a cash donation.

“There have been similar events at other centres where the Senator shares his special day with the less privileged. He has shown the kind of person he is, always giving back to society.”

 

Various speakers including political parties leaders, clerics and members of the Southern Kaduna Professors Forum among others in their goodwill messages, applauded Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for choosing to celebrate his birthday with the needy.

Responding on behalf of the widows, Mrs. Mary Habila thanked Senator Katung for wiping away their tears and prayed for God’s abundant blessings upon him.

Earlier, the Principal of ECWA Widows Training School Samaru Kataf, Mrs. Sarah Bature, and the Coordinator of Rafiki Orphanage Home Ungwan Rimi Bajju, Mr. Cornelius Sam, while thanking the Senator for choosing their institutions, appealed to other wealthy individuals to invest in orphans and widows.

 

Other dignitaries at the occasion showered remarks on Senator Katung and commended his love and commitment to his people.
