Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Pensioners Association has directed its members nationwide to protest the delayed payment of benefits promised over the years.

In a statement, the association explained that the protest, scheduled for Wednesday, is intended to draw the attention of relevant authorities to the challenges faced by pensioners.

The protest is expected to start at the Radio Nigeria Broadcasting House in Abuja at ten o’clock in the morning, and will move to other locations peacefully organizers have called for effective media coverage of the event.

The leadership of the protest expressed dismay over the alleged failure of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate to settle the benefits, despite billions of naira reportedly approved for the purpose.

Some of the retirees who expressed support for the protest were surprised over alleged silence of the national body of the FRCN pensioners on such serious issues which should no longer be tolerated considering sufferings of the retirees.
