Former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar retired has expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome all the myriad of challenges bedeviling the country.

The former Head of State stated this at the first Annual IBB leadership lecture presentation in commemoration of his eightieth birthday held at Justice Legbo Kutigi Minna.

General Abdulsalami Abubakar called for collective efforts by Nigerians to achieve the desired objective.

On the eightieth birthday of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida General Abdulsalami Abubakar described General IBB as a great leader and prayed Allah to grant him sound health long life and prosperity for Niger state and Nigeria to continue to benefit from his wealth of experience.

Former Niger state Governor Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu applauded General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida for his sacrifice to the nation and described him as one of the best leader Nigeria has ever produced.

Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu also implored youths in the country to emulate from the tremendous sacrifice of our leaders and shun the get rich quick syndrome for meaningful result.

Niger state Givernor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello who went out of the lecture venue to receive someVIP guests could not return up to the end of the programme.

In their seperate goodwill messages former Niger state Commissioner for Budget and Planning Alh Mohammed Nda and Co-ordinator RIFAN Niger state Malam Idris Usman commended General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida for all the good things he has done to Niger state and Nigeria stressing that the history of Nigeria will never be complete without mention of General Babangida retired.

The theme of the lecture is The desperation research for Nationhood challenges of common sense and the supremacy of ideas the revindication of the General.

The programme was organised by the Niger state Youth Congress.
