Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has charged Nigeria Immigration Service to avail itself with modern technologies in patrolling the nation’s borders.

Governor Masari gave the charge when he received the Controller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service Mr. Mohammed Babandede in his office.

He said the maximum use of modern technology will enhance identification of people entering and exiting the country.

The Governor who pointed out that the state government was round the clock to overcome security challenges in the state, said the local government reform act was amended to provide more roles to traditional institutions with a view to managing insecurity in their localities.

Earlier, the Controller General Nigeria Immigration Service Mohammed Babandede said he was in Katsina State to build synergy with traditional institutions to assist the service to control people entering borders.

He said the security meeting that will be held with the Emir of Katsina alongside his district heads will help the service to effectively monitor borders in the state.

Mohammed Babandede who sympathised with Governor Masari over the wanton loss of lives and property in the state as a result of banditry, thanked him for giving the service unalloyed support in the discharge of its responsibilities.
