The Sarkin Hausawa of Port Harcourt, Alhaji Husseini Isa Madaki, has been honoured with a Peace Ambassador Award as part of activities marking the 2026 United Nations International Day of Peace in Rivers State.
The award was presented at an event held in Port Harcourt to commemorate the International Day of Peace.
The organisers described Alhaji Madaki as a peaceful traditional leader who leads his people with the fear of Allah and promotes peaceful coexistence among diverse ethnic groups in Rivers State.
They commended him for his efforts in resolving conflicts and fostering unity and social cohesion among various ethnic communities residing in the state.
The organisers said the recognition was in appreciation of his contributions to peacebuilding and his efforts to promote harmonious relationships among different communities.
The theme of the 2026 United Nations International Day of Peace is “May Peace Prevail on Earth 2026.”
Reacting to the award, the Sarkin Hausawa of Port Harcourt, Alhaji Husseini Isa Madaki, expressed gratitude to Allah and thanked the organisers for finding him worthy of the recognition.
He said the award would further encourage him to continue supporting peace, unity and peaceful coexistence among communities in Rivers State.
Alhaji Madaki also called on northerners living in Rivers State to cooperate with one another and work together towards improving their welfare and wellbeing.
