Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has urged the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to serve diligently, patriotically and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Governor Yusuf gave the charge at the swearing-in ceremony of the corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kusalla Dam, Karaye, and was represented by the Commissioner for Monitoring and Evaluation, Alhaji Nura Iro Ma’aji.

The governor welcomed the corps members to Kano, describing the State as a commercial hub, and encouraged them to participate actively in all orientation camp activities.

He assured them of the state government’s commitment to their security and welfare throughout the service year and commended camp officials for their dedication to mentoring the corps members.

Governor Yusuf said the NYSC Scheme, established over five decades ago, had continued to promote national integration, selfless service and unity among Nigerians.

He noted that despite emerging challenges, the scheme remained relevant and had continued to make significant contributions to national development.

Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Hajiya Halima Abubakar, expressed optimism that the corps members would have a successful orientation exercise and a rewarding service year.

She commended the Kano State Government for its continued support, noting that the governor’s directive for the renovation of camp facilities reflected his commitment to the welfare of corps members.
