The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has conducted a health awareness talk and distributed sanitary pads to female students of Government day secondary school Badarawa, to mark the World Menstrual Hygiene Day.

Zonal Secretary of NAWOJ zone A, Hajiya Daharatu Ahmad Aliyu representing the zonal vice chairperson, Hajiya Rabi Muhammad Gwadabawa, made the donation to students and staff of the school.

Hajiya Rabi Muhammad Gwadabawa while commending Kaduna state governor’s wife Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani, for her generous donation and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of women and girls through the renewed hope agenda said the initiative was aimed at educating the students on proper menstrual hygiene practices while providing them with essential sanitary materials to enhance their comfort and confidence during menstrual periods.

She noted that menstrual education is critical to ensuring that girls remain in school and participate fully in academic and social activities without stigma or discrimination.

The Vice President added that the association remains committed to championing the rights, health and welfare of women and girls across the country.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to NAWOJ and Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani for the gesture, describing the donation as timely and impactful and pledged to make good use of the sanitary pads and the knowledge gained from the health talk to maintain proper personal hygiene and support their peers.

The event also featured an interactive health session on maintaining good and healthy menstrual hygiene.
