Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board says it has deployed security personnel around baggage handling and collection points in Dutse.

The Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria correspondent Usman Mohammed Zaria in Makkah.

He said the first flight arrived at Dutse International Airport with the pilgrims’ luggage.

According to him, security personnel comprising the police, immigration, customs, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and vigilantes, among others, were strategically deployed to ensure proper monitoring of pilgrims’ belongings.

Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo further explained that, the advance party of the board and the security personnel would as well facilitate an orderly retrieval of the pilgrims luggages.

He said, the well coordinated arrangement is aimed at safeguarding the state pilgrims property and preventing unauthorised access to pilgrims luggages.

The Pilgrims Boss pointed out that, tags were issued to the pilgrims for identification of their luggages at the hajj camp.

Labbo, therefore urged the pilgrims to cooperate with all the security agencies during the collection of their belongings.

Radio Nigeria reports that the first batch of 484 pilgrims arrived Nuhu Muhammadu Sunusi international airport in Dutse, the state capital following the completion of this year’s hajj exercise.
