Zamfara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting development partners to ensure that impactful projects are delivered to standard and within schedule for the benefit of the people.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Multilateral and Donor Agencies, Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdu Gusau, stated this during an inspection tour of key project sites being executed under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in the state.

During the visit, the Permanent Secretary was received by the State Project Coordinator, Nasiru Muhammad, who conducted her round the facilities to assess the progress and quality of work.

Hajiya Sa’adatu expressed satisfaction with the level of implementation, noting that, the projects would significantly improve the livelihoods of livestock farmers and residents across the state.

She added that the initiatives align with the “Rescue Agenda” of Governor Dauda Lawal.

Among the projects inspected was the ongoing construction of a modern abattoir, which includes small and medium animal slaughter slabs as well as an integrated waste management system.

The facility is designed to enhance hygiene, reduce post-slaughter losses, and provide a safer environment for meat processing.

The Permanent Secretary also visited the Farmers’ Field School, a training centre aimed at equipping livestock farmers with best practices.

The training will focus on proper animal handling, milk hygiene, and sanitation of milk collection points to improve product quality and market value.

Additionally, the team inspected newly constructed zonal veterinary clinics located in the Damba area of Gusau while the clinics are expected to provide accessible veterinary services, improve animal health, and boost productivity for farmers across Gusau, Kaura Namoda, and Talata Mafara zones.

In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator, Nasiru Muhammad, commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his continued support to the L-PRES project.

He also appreciated the contributions of the State Ministry of Agriculture, the Office of Multilateral and Donor Agencies, and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the success of the programme.

The L-PRES Project is a World Bank-assisted initiative aimed at enhancing livestock productivity, strengthening resilience, and improving market access for farmers in participating states, including Zamfara.
