The Lady Captain of Kaduna Golf Club, Ms. Dorcas Daniel, has described children as the pride of families, the hope of communities, and the future of the nation, as the club marked this year’s Children’s Day with a special golf clinic and fun-filled activities for over 150 children.
The event brought together children aged two years and above, who participated in various golfing activities and funfair events designed to encourage social interaction, recreation, and sports development.
The golf competition featured different age categories. In the 2–6 years category, participants competed in chipping and putting exercises. Yusuf Adamu, aged two, emerged as runner-up after successfully putting one ball, while Mohammed Abdullahi finished as second runner-up. Kayla Daniel and Anastatia Samuel impressed spectators by putting three balls each.
In the girls’ category for ages 6–10, which involved playing two holes, Fedora Adesisi, 14, emerged runner-up gross, while Zainab Haruna, 11, won the Best Gross title. In Category One (11–18 years), played over six holes, Ummukhulsum Haruna emerged winner with a net score of 35.
Among the boys, Israel Silas finished as runner-up gross with 38 points, while Jeremi Yahaya placed second runner-up with 34 points. Edmond Godwin clinched the Best Gross award with 33 points. In Category One, Haruna Saew emerged runner-up gross with 30 points, while Damul Kolade secured the Best Gross title with 29 points.
Speaking during the event, Ms. Daniel said the Children’s Day celebration served as a reminder of the collective responsibility of parents and society to nurture, protect, educate, and guide children as future leaders.
“As we celebrate today, our hearts also go out to children across Nigeria who are facing difficult circumstances. We remember and pray for all children affected by insecurity and violence in different parts of the country,” she said.
She expressed solidarity with families and communities whose children have experienced the trauma of abduction and insecurity, praying for the safety, protection, and well-being of every child in Nigeria.
“We hope for a future where all children can live, learn, and grow in peace and security,” she added.
The Lady Captain also appreciated the Club Captain, Board of Trustees, Management Committee, sponsors, donors, club members, and all those who contributed to the success of the event.
According to her, their generosity and support made it possible for the children to enjoy a memorable and meaningful celebration.
Addressing the children, Ms. Daniel encouraged them to remain focused on their education and pursue their dreams with confidence.
“Always remember that you are unique, talented, and capable of achieving great things. Respect your parents and teachers, and never stop believing in your dreams,” she advised.
She noted that seeing the children happy and excited was one of the greatest rewards of the celebration and pledged continued efforts to create opportunities that inspire and support the younger generation.
The event ended with the presentation of prizes to outstanding participants and renewed commitment by the Kaduna Golf Club Ladies Section to promote youth development through sports.
