African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has announced the results of its House of Representatives and selected State House of Assembly primary elections, producing candidates who will fly the party’s flag in the 2027 general elections.
The results were unveiled during a press conference in Kaduna by the Chairman of the Kaduna State Primary Elections Committee, Dr. Ladan Salihu.
Dr. Salihu explained that the presidential and governorship primaries had earlier been concluded, while the latest announcement covered federal and state legislative contests conducted across various constituencies in the state.
He stated that all aspirants declared winners had been duly elected through the party’s primary elections and consequently emerged as ADC candidates for the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the successful conduct of the primaries demonstrates the party’s commitment to internal democracy and preparations for the forthcoming elections.
For the House of Representatives primaries, Mustapha Ahmed emerged as the ADC candidate for Lere Federal Constituency after polling 1,543 votes to defeat Magaji Musa Buba, who secured 853 votes.
In Soba Federal Constituency, Suleiman Yahaya Richifa won the party’s ticket with 7,404 votes, defeating Mohammed Aliyu Mahmod, who polled 1,125 votes, and Mohammed Musa, who garnered 295 votes.
Bashir Zubairu secured victory in Birnin Gwari/Giwa Federal Constituency with 8,895 votes against Yusuf Ibrahim, who scored 1,540 votes.
Nasir Bashar emerged victorious in Sabon Gari Federal Constituency after polling 4,173 votes, ahead of Mohammed Usman with 3,461 votes and Hassan Rilwanu with 898 votes.
In Zaria Federal Constituency, Aliyu Lawal Ibrahim won the party’s ticket with 15,677 votes while Tukur Salisu Kakeyi polled 9,025 votes, while Sulaiman Ibrahim Dabo and Shehu Nuhu Babajo secured 2,790 and 2,334 votes respectively.
The committee disclosed that the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency primary election was still ongoing at the time the results were announced.
The party also released results of some State House of Assembly primaries conducted across Kaduna State.
Among the winners announced were Dahiru Adamu, who emerged victorious in Basawa Constituency with 1,313 votes; Alhassan Mohammed, who secured the ADC ticket for Ikara Constituency with 6,481 votes; Ya’u Abubakar, who won the Kubau Constituency primary with 3,785 votes; and Nura Abdulkarim, who emerged victorious in Kudan Constituency with 4,339 votes.
Others include Hussaini Magaji Sa’idu, who won the Lere East Constituency primary with 763 votes, and Habibu Idris Gatari, who secured victory in Lere West Constituency with 631 votes.
Other winners announced by the committee were Ishaku Ibrahim, Abdullahi Mohammed Bello of Maigana Constituency, Ahmad Aminu of Sabon Gari Constituency, Suleiman Magaji of Soba Constituency, Umar Yahaya of Zaria City Constituency, Abubakar Sani Kugu of Zaria Kewaye Constituency, and Abdullahi Mohammed Maikudi of Igabi West Constituency.
Dr. Ladan Salihu noted that the results released represented only part of the State Assembly primary elections conducted across the state.
The announcement comes as the ADC continues to strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections, following the conclusion of its presidential, governorship, House of Representatives, and several State Assembly primaries.
Political analysts believe the party’s growing prominence, driven by ongoing opposition coalition efforts, could make it a significant force in the build-up to the 2027 elections.
