The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as the winner of its presidential primary election in Zamfara State.

Chairman of the ADC Presidential Primary Election Committee in the state, Alhaji Namadi Muhammad Musa, who also served as the returning officer, announced the results in Gusau the Zamfara State Capital.

He stated that, the election was conducted across all 147 wards in the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State, in line with the party’s constitution and primary election guidelines.

According to Musa, a total of 63,484 party members were registered for the exercise, while 61,137 votes were cast.

Declaring the results, the returning officer said Rotimi Amaechi scored 191 votes, while Muhammad Hayatudeen polled 146 votes.

He added that Atiku Abubakar secured a total of 60,500 votes to emerge the winner, having scored the highest number of valid votes cast in the election.

Alhaji Namadi Musa further declared that, in accordance with ADC guidelines, Atiku Abubakar is hereby returned as the party’s presidential candidate in Zamfara State.

He expressed appreciation to party members and stakeholders for their cooperation, noting that the exercise was conducted peacefully across the state.

The Collation and the announcement of the result was held in the presence of the INEC officials and other stakeholders.
