Seventeen members of the House of Representatives have defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The defection was announced during plenary session presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Benjamin Kalu, in a letter conveying the members decision.
Those defected are the Deputy Minority Whip, George Ozodinobi, Uchenna Harris, Professor Lilian Orogbu, Peter Uzokwe, Emeka Idu and Afam Ogene Anambra State.
Also defected were Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Thaddeaus Attah, George Oluwande, and Jesse Okey-Joe all from Lagos State in the green chamber.
Other decampees are Yusuf Umar Datti, Sani Adamu, Muktar Zakari, Kamilu Ado from Kano State while Murphy Osaro Edo State and Munachim Umezuruike from Rivers State.
The defected members cited internal crises and uncertainty within the ADC as the primary reasons for their decision, raising fresh concerns about stability within the ADC as an opposition party ahead of the 2027 general election.
