The Kano State Government has reinforced its commitment to eliminating vaccine-preventable diseases as Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, led Team B of the State Taskforce Committee on Primary Health Care in a high-level supervision of the March 2026 Supplementary National Immunization Plus Days (SNIPDs) campaign in Wudil and Kiru LGAs.
The visit involved real-time assessments of house-to-house vaccination teams, transit points, and fixed-post operations to ensure strict compliance with campaign guidelines and improve service delivery.
During the Wudil LGA visit, the Primary Health Care Coordinator, Hajiya Wasila Muhammad Usman, requested an additional Solar Direct Drive (SDD) refrigerator to enhance vaccine storage capacity, a critical measure to maintain immunization coverage in the area.
Professor Ibrahim also conducted a monitoring visit to Yargaya Health Post in Dawakin Kudu LGA, where he issued directives aimed at improving service efficiency.

He instructed the facility to increase Routine Immunization sessions from once to twice weekly alongside Antenatal Care (ANC) services, recommended relocating the laboratory to the main facility, restructuring ANC and Outpatient Department (OPD) clinics, and establishing a stand-alone pharmacy unit to improve patient flow and service delivery.
The Director General assured that the Board would act on the identified gaps, including providing additional beds to support clinical services.
He emphasized that sustained executive supervision, strategic resource deployment, and integrated service delivery remain central to Kano State’s efforts to enhance primary health care outcomes and reduce zero-dose vaccination cases.
