The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, says it has not received distress calls from Nigerians affected by the ongoing Middle East crisis.

This is contained in a statement by the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols of the Commission, Mr. Abdur-Rahman Balogun.

According to him, the Commission has received enquiries from a few Nigerians residing in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Iran, seeking information on possible evacuation plans should the need arise.

Mr. Balogun explained that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working with relevant agencies to determine appropriate steps, while advising Nigerians in affected countries to strictly adhere to official travel advisories issued by the Ministry.

He also urged Nigerians in the region to make use of the emergency contact numbers provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The NIDCOM spokesperson assured that the Federal Government is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East and will take all necessary measures to safeguard the lives and welfare of Nigerians abroad.
