Associations of the visually impaired and persons with disabilities in Kaduna State are appealing to wealthy individuals to support them with foodstuffs to enable them stand firm in prayer and fasting for the nation during Ramadan period.
The appeal was made when the Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry Kaduna, distributed bags of grains to less privileged Muslims, Tsangaya Islamic schools, and some internally displaced persons (IDPs) in preparation for the 30-day Ramadan fasting in Kaduna.
Receiving the items at the Kano Road Central Mosque, leaders of the associations, Mallam Tukur Zubairu and Hassan Lawal, expressed gratitude for the church’s ongoing support, acknowledging its longstanding assistance to Muslims during Ramadan.
According to them, for the past 20 years, the church has consistently remembered them with food grains for use during Ramadan.

They prayed for God’s blessing on the General Overseer of the church for supporting poor Muslims with food items every year during the period.
The leaders called on other wealthy individuals to emulate the gesture and expressed commitment to preaching and living in peace with one another.
General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, explained that the aim of the distribution was to strengthen peace and unity, as well as promote interfaith relationships in the state.

He said the goal also was to enable the less privileged including the visually impaired and persons with disabilities among others have enough food to break their fast through out the fasting and prayer period.
Prior to the grain distribution, he said he had mobilised 50 volunteer pastors and imams for a seven-day campaign with market traders to help reduce food prices ahead of the spiritual season.
