The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajuddeen Abbas, has reiterated the commitment of the National Assembly to supporting projects initiated by community-based development associations across the country.
Dr. Abbas made this known during the launch of the 2026 Almanac Calendar of the Lere Development Association (LDA), held in Lere, Kaduna State.
Represented at the event by Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the Speaker said the National Assembly remains committed to enacting laws that will enable associations to effectively execute community-based development projects.
He noted that the present administration is working closely with communities to restore peace and security nationwide.
Dr. Abbas further encouraged the Lere Development Association to continue supporting government policies and programmes that have a direct impact on the lives of citizens.
As part of his support, he donated the sum of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000) to the Association to enhance the execution of its programmes and projects.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Lere Local Government Council, Alhaji Jafar Ahmed, urged community associations to initiate programmes that will complement government efforts in creating job opportunities.
He also commended the Lere Development Association for championing community-based development initiatives in the area.

Earlier in his remarks, the Emir of Lere, Engr. Sulaiman Umaru, expressed appreciation to the Speaker for his continued support to the community.
The event featured colourful traditional dances and was attended by several distinguished guests.
