The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has tasked personnel to scale up aggressive pursuit of criminal elements threatening national security.
He gave the charge at the graduation ceremony of troops of Exercise Restore Hope (9) held at the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Kachia in Kaduna State.
Lt. General Waidi Shaibu explained that Exercise Restore Hope remains unique in its scope and intent, having consistently enhanced fighting skills and combat competencies.
He assured the troops of his firm leadership and sustained support to enable them successfully execute their assigned missions.
“I place great premium on Exercise Restore Hope as a critical platform for building effective manpower capable of surmounting the myriad security challenges confronting our nation”
Lt. General Shaibu therefore charged the officers and soldiers to apply the skills, discipline and values acquired to the effective discharge of their duties in pursuit of national security objectives.
Earlier in his address, the Chief of Training, Major General Valentine Okoro explained that Exercise Restore Hope is one of Army’s most critical platform for generating professional, adaptable and a combat ready force.
He noted that the grueling training was designed to set the soldiers apart in the field with the proficiency to preserve, pursue, kill and survive under strenuous and austere conditions.
“The clamour for more of these soldiers have led to expansion of the training capacity from one battalion to two battalions”
Major General Okoro added that products of the training, have in various theatres of operation, validated the vision behind the training by their proficiency and effectiveness in combat.
A total of one thousand, one hundred and twenty-six officers and soldiers passed out after six months training.
Highpoint of the event was the display of various drills by the graduating troops.
