Southern Kaduna Christian leaders Association SKCLA have declared a two-day fasting and prayer following the abduction of one hundred and seventy-seven persons in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing the incident as disturbing and unacceptable.

This is contain in a statement by its Chairman, Apostle Dr Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, explaining that the kidnapping has plunged the region into deep anguish, noting that it is the first time worshippers from three different Christian denominations were abducted on the same day during church services.

The Association lamented that the Kajuru incident adds to a growing number of unresolved abductions in Southern Kaduna, particularly in Kauru, Kachia and other vulnerable communities, where families continue to live in fear and uncertainty over the fate of their loved ones.

Apostle Dr Emmanuel Nuhu Kure called on the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts towards the immediate and unconditional release of the abducted victims, adding that decisive measures to end the recurring cases of kidnappings in the area should be taken very seriously

As a spiritual response to the crisis, the Association announced a two day fasting and prayer programme from Friday till Sunday across all churches in the region; anchored on Psalm 57, verses two to three, for the safe return of all abducted persons across Southern Kaduna.

Apostle Dr Emmanuel Kure said the exercise represents a united cry to God for mercy, protection and deliverance, describing it as a demonstration of rare unity among Christians across denominations at a critical time.

The Association called on Christians within and outside Southern Kaduna to participate fully in the fast, while appealing to Nigerians to stand in solidarity with affected communities, particularly families of victims in Kajuru, Kauru and Kachia.

It concluded by reaffirming the resolve of the Christian leaders not to remain silent in the face of insecurity, expressing hope for divine intervention while continuing to demand accountability and concrete action from authorities responsible for safeguarding lives and property.
