His eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar, has declared today, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 as the first day of SHAABAN 1447AH , Islamic calendar.
This is contained in a press statement signed by the Chairman of the Advisory committee on religious affairs of the sultanate council, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu in Sokoto State.
The statement cites that the Monthly Observation of the moon clarifies the Islamic Calendar within a given year, thereby making the month of Ramadan moon sightings more acceptable to the general Muslims in the country.
