Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of serving and retired members of the Armed Forces as well as the families of fallen heroes.
Governor Idris made this known during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held at the Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi.
As part of the ceremony, the Governor laid a wreath in honour of the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the peace, unity and stability of Nigeria describing the occasion as a moment for reflection, gratitude and national appreciation for the courage and selflessness of members of the Armed Forces.
The Governor expressed deep sympathy to families of fallen heroes, assuring them that their loved ones did not die in vain and that the government and people of Kebbi State would continue to stand by them through sustained welfare and support programmes.
He also explained that his administration has invested heavily in strengthening the state’s security architecture, including the provision of over 100 brand new Hilux vehicles and motorcycles to security agencies, as well as the ongoing training of vigilante groups to enhance their operational effectiveness across the state.
In a major show of support, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, announced on behalf of the Kebbi State Government a donation of ₦30 million to the Officers’ Wives Association, Widows Association of Soldiers and Servicemen, with ₦10 million allocated to each group.
